# Search Engine
In my opinion, search engines are the most used type of software in today’s world. And the most used one is Google. It was a decent choice for a long time. Then they integrated AI and it was shit. Second most-used search engine is the Bing. I personally prefer DuckDuckGo . It’s fast, privacy-friendly and has a decent dark mode.
# Web browser
Across all platforms most used web browser is Chrome. I love the pace at which Chrome is developing. But recently, I have grown to dislike and hate it because of these 2 reasons:
Who knows what else they are doing?!
Unfortunately we don’t have much alternatives here. These kind of biases are found in the Chromium as well. Because of that, all Chromium based browsers —such as Edge and Brave— are not so great choices.
Previously I was suggesting Firefox. It was the only browser that is stable, has decent user base. However their recent policy changes grants them a nonexclusive royalty-free worldwide license to everything we input on Firefox. That’s a big red alert.
Ladybird is a truly independent web browser and would be a viable solution here. However it is in the pre-alpha stage now.
For now, I would suggest using Brave. Not the browser we want but that’s the best one in the mud.
# Operating System
On mobile phones, Android is the most used OS. Next one is iOS. We don’t have any other viable alternatives. Although I have minor nitpicks against both Android and iOS, they both are good enough for daily usage. Yes, Android is an exception to this post’s title.
On personal computers, Windows is the most used one. And we all know how shitty it is. OS-level ads, vulnerable, bloated unnecessary features, and I can go on for a long time, but you get the idea. Mac OS, Linux-based operating systems are the second- and third-most used OSes and are way more better.
